Session Tips

Session Guidance

Each chapter could take one session to complete however, as there are other goals to accomplish within the mentorship process this may not occur and should be left to the discernment of the mentor.

Key Points within a session:

  1. The mentee should be doing the home tasks and practicing what they have learnt.

Practice should follow the 4 step process:

  1. I do and you watch

  2. You and I do together

  3. You do and I watch

  4. You do it on your own

  5.  During the sessions it is also advised that mentors engage their mentees in conversations about current life challenges that the mentee is having.

Split time

  1. Monitor time for this section. Try to maintain a 20/5/25/50 split of time.

    1. 20 - Mentee to share on their life and current challenges

    2. 5 - You to share about your life and experiences

    3. 25 - Review previous session and all previous take home tasks

    4. 50 - Go through next section of material

  2. Have the mentee find and read scriptures before the session and discuss some of them during the session to help the mentee to understand.

  3.  Select at least one scripture to memorize during the week.

Tips:

  • Do not rush through the material, quality and understanding is always better than quantity

  • It’s not about an interrogation neither is it a school setting, it’s about building a relationship and imparting the knowledge and experiences God has given you in a structured manner. Feel free to discuss things outside of the scope of the material as the Lord leads, but remember that they need to know the 7 key principles to put on the armor.

  • Estimated time frame for Forging an Armor (weekly meetings): 7 months

  • Selecting a mentee can be challenging - Check out info. On things to consider when selecting a mentee

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16 - Pray without ceasing

  • Put on the FULL ARMOR OF GOD
